About Lockhart Honey Company

Lockhart Honey Company started with a few beehives and a simple interest in learning how to keep bees.

It didn't stay small for very long.

What began as beekeeping on our own property grew into a full-time operation managing hundreds of honey bee colonies throughout Central Texas.

Today, Lockhart Honey Company is a working beekeeping operation, honey producer and retail store located in the heart of Lockhart, Texas.

We're Beekeepers First

Everything we do starts with the bees.

Our team spends the year managing colonies throughout Central Texas—raising and replacing queens, making splits, feeding during nectar dearths, managing pests and mites, catching swarms, performing live bee removals and producing honey.

That experience carries directly into our store.

When someone walks in with a beekeeping question, they're not talking to someone who simply sells beekeeping equipment. They're talking to people who use this equipment and work bees throughout the year.

Honey From Our Hives

One of the things we're most proud of is the honey produced by our own colonies.

Our local honey comes from the hives we manage throughout Central Texas. We harvest it, extract it and bottle it while keeping the honey as close as possible to the way the bees produced it.

We don't blend our local honey with imported honey or bulk honey from unknown sources.

Alongside our own Texas honey, we also enjoy introducing customers to distinctive American varietal honeys produced in different regions of the country.

Just like wine, honey can taste dramatically different depending on where it was produced and which plants were blooming when the bees collected nectar.

That's one of our favorite things to share with people who visit the store.

More Than a Honey Store

Lockhart Honey Company has grown into much more than bottled honey.

At our store in Lockhart, you'll find honey, beekeeping equipment, beeswax products, gifts, live bees when seasonally available and products from other makers and small businesses.

We also provide professional services throughout Central Texas, including:

Bee hive leasing for agricultural valuation
Live honey bee removal and relocation
Beekeeping classes and education
Beekeeping supplies and equipment
Queens and nucleus colonies when seasonally available

Whether you're an experienced beekeeper, thinking about getting your first hive or simply looking for a good bottle of Texas honey, we want the store to be a place where you can ask questions and learn something while you're here.

From the Bee Yard to Downtown Lockhart

We're proud to call Lockhart home.

Our storefront gives us an opportunity to bring a working beekeeping operation directly to the community.

Customers can stop in to explore different varieties of honey, learn about honey bees, pick up beekeeping supplies, find locally made goods or simply talk bees with us.

Throughout the year, we also look for opportunities to share beekeeping with schools, families and the community through educational events and hands-on experiences.

Our Philosophy Is Pretty Simple

Take care of the bees. Produce good honey. Help people become better beekeepers. Support our community.

We're still growing, still learning and still spending plenty of days covered in bees.

That's exactly how we like it.
